Is Quolla a subscription?

No. The download version is a one-time purchase. AI usage is billed separately by your chosen provider because Quolla uses your own API key.

Do you see my chats, files, or API keys?

No. Quolla is local-first. Your map, files, chats, and provider keys stay on your device. API requests go from the app to the provider you choose.

Why do I need an API key?

Quolla does not resell model access. Bring your own OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google key so you control the account, provider, and model usage.

What is the difference between the web demo and the download version?

The browser demo is a lightweight way to try the workflow. It supports one temporary map and daily message limits. The download version adds persistence, multiple maps, file nodes, pseudo-RAG, and closed map-only referencing.

Can I use Quolla without uploading files?

Yes. File nodes are optional and are only available in the download version. You can use Quolla as a spatial AI chat and map tool without adding files.

Windows says the app is protected

The Windows build may show a “Windows protected your PC” warning because the app is not yet signed with a paid certificate. Click More info, then Run anyway if you downloaded Quolla from the official site.

My API key is not working

• Confirm the key is pasted into the matching provider field.
• Check that billing is enabled in the provider account.
• Create a fresh key if the old one was copied incorrectly or revoked.
• Restart Quolla after saving the key if the model selector does not refresh.

My license will not activate

• Check that the license key was copied without extra spaces.
• Make sure the device is online for the activation check.
• If the license was recently purchased, wait a moment and try again.

The map feels heavy

• Remove large files or unrelated nodes from the active map.
• Disconnect files that do not need to be referenced.
• Use Tidy to reduce overlap and make connected context easier to inspect.
